Hot Work Pass (Meyer Turku shipyard)
From the beginning of year 2022, Meyer Turku shipyard switched to its own hot work training. The training that entitles you to do hot work at the shipyard is called Hot Work Pass Education. Hot Work Pass training replaced the requirement for the national hot work card (SPEK) and it is now mandatory for all hot work performers from January 1, 2022 at Meyer Turku shipyard.
The new hot work pass training includes computer-based online study, where you go through e.g. hot work risk levels and hot work that requires a permit, as well as practical hot work exercises with firs-aid firefighting training. The duration of hot work pass training is 1 1/2 – 2 hours.
During the training, we teach hot work performers to recognize ignitions caused by hot works and to anticipate hot work risks, especially in shipbuilding. The training aims at cost efficiency and makes better use of modern educational technology. The online study material has been translated into several different languages, which supports effective studying and facilitates active student feedback, thus contributing to the development of common fire safety at Meyer Turku shipyard.
Those who have satisfactorily completed the course will receive their own hot work pass card.
Hot work pass training is valid for five (5) years and only in the area of Meyer Turku Oy.
